#20 Marriage Licences of Old England

I enjoyed putting this episode together, although I was often tempted to wander off and talk about marriage customs rather than licences.  Certainly, there are enough avenues to explore in future podcasts.

I mentioned Phillimore’s Nottinghamshire Parish Registers which are generally available and, usefully, often found on DVD these days, if not on downloads.  The Cambridgeshire Marriage Licences can be purchased from Cambridgeshire Family History Society.  I also mentioned Peter Ackroyd’s biography of Shakespeare. Further details should be in our bibliography.
